The Importance of Filipino Language

According to Republic Act No. 7104 creating the Commission on the Filipino Language. which is now also known as Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), in 1991. Under said law, KWF is tasked to undertake, coordinate and promote researches for the development.

The Filipino language, known as Filipino or Tagalog, is of immense importance not only to the Philippines but also globally due to several key reasons. This language serves as the national language of the Philippines and plays a pivotal role in the country's cultural, historical, social, and political landscapes.

Cultural Heritage and Identity: Filipino language embodies the cultural heritage of the Philippines. It serves as a vessel of tradition, preserving centuries-old customs, folklore, and values passed down through generations. It connects people to their roots, fostering a sense of belonging and unity among Filipinos, irrespective of their diverse regional languages or dialects.
